Job description

Role Summary

A Cisco SD-WAN Solution Architect is responsible for leading the design, validation, and deployment of large-scale enterprise SD-WAN solutions. This senior-level role involves independently reviewing architecture, providing technical guidance, and ensuring deployment aligns with industry standards and best practices. The architect collaborates closely with engineering teams, technology partners, and delivery groups to support seamless implementation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate Cisco SD-WAN architecture and detailed designs to ensure compliance with best practices and scalability requirements.
  • Assess network topology, hub/mesh architectures, routing protocols, segmentation strategies, and resiliency configurations.
  • Evaluate and recommend configurations, feature profiles, templates, and device models for operational efficiency.
  • Identify architectural gaps, scalability concerns, and technical risks; propose remediation and standardization strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN / Viptela architecture, including configuration, deployment models, and troubleshooting.
  • Support testing, deployment, and production readiness activities, including conducting readiness assessments and supporting cutover planning.
  • Develop and maintain deployment standards, playbooks, and repeatable procedures for scalable SD-WAN implementations.
  • Lead or participate in architecture governance sessions, documenting risks, issues, decisions, and action items.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and solutions effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience in enterprise networking, network architecture, or engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco SD-WAN / Viptela.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and platforms such as Catalyst 8500 and 8300 series.
  • Strong understanding of SD-WAN features including IPsec, routing protocols, segmentation, multicast, QoS, and application-aware routing.
  • Experience designing SD-WAN solutions in large, distributed enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to review, troubleshoot, and optimize SD-WAN configurations and deployment models.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in complex transformation projects.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCIE or equivalent Cisco networking expertise are preferred.
  • Availability for a hybrid work schedule.

Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 - $62.00 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
