Job Summary:

This role will serve as the corporate expert in all molten metal processes—including casting, melting, and recycling—across the global network of conventional and aluminum-lithium casthouses. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing best practices in these areas by benchmarking both internal and external casting operations and staying current with emerging technologies in the market. As the principal troubleshooter, they will address complex problems that cannot be resolved by local resources or that have a system-wide impact on casthouse operations. Additionally, the role includes responsibility for training and developing both operators and technologists, with the goal of building a lasting legacy of expertise within the casting discipline.

In this role, you will:
  • This role will serve as the corporate expert in all molten metal processes (casting, melting, and recycling) for the global network of conventional and aluminum-lithium casthouses 
  • They will be responsible for developing and implementing best practices in the casting and melting/recycling areas. This includes benchmarking internal and external casting operations and keeping abreast of developed technologies in the market. 
  • The role will be the principal troubleshooter for complex problems that cannot be solved by the locations resources or issues that have a system-wide impact in the casthouse. 
  • The role will be responsible for training and development of both operators and other technologists, and to leave a legacy of experts inside of the casting space. 
  • Improve ingot casting recovery at our three GRP NA locations by helping with practice development and consistency
  • Educate casthouse operators and engineering personnel on ingot casting best practices 
  • Support organic improvements in casthouse capacity beyond just recovery, including improving set up times and workflow around the ingot pit
  • Drive best metal quality practices to ensure a consistent, suitable product out of the ingot plant
  • Use available casting/recovery data systems to drive the biggest impact in improving casthouse productivity
Also note:
  • Open to relocation.
  • Travel 25-50% expected, some may require international travel.

You have: (required) 
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Ceramics, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. 
  • 8 years of related experience in a Metallurgical or Materials Science capacity 
  • 4 years of molten metal process experience, including slab casting and melting/recycling technologies 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Ceramics, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. 
  • 10 years of molten metal process experience, including slab casting and melting/recycling technologies
  • Aluminum experience
