Job Description

Under general supervision, provide general support to all bar needs by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and adequate stock levels of products and supplies pertinent to completing duties properly; and duties will include, but not limited to all responsibilities below and other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications
  1. Deliver internal and external guest service the Boyd Gaming Way.  Always exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor.  Be polite and courteous when speaking with guests and team members.  Look for and act upon opportunities to assist guests and team members.  Be sincere and genuine during all interactions.  Be prepared with the knowledge and skill required to be responsive to guests and team member's needs and questions.
  2. Responsible for learning and being familiar with all of Boyd Gaming's room outlets, Bar Back functions, and for being able to answer general questions regarding the property.
  3. Anticipate the guest's needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  4. Assist bartender with various tasks such as, cut and continuously replenish fruit trays; stock liquor, beers, and wines; provide change when needed; and assist with cleanliness of bar
  5. Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
  6. Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
  7. Assist guests with beverage and food selection, demonstrating salesmanship with complete product knowledge. Anticipate, identify, and provide for guest needs.
  8. Adhere to company policy by measuring all drinks using either the Berg system or a jigger
  9. Serve wine, bottled or draft beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with proper garnishes. Mix ingredients, such as liquor, juice, soda, water, sugar and bitters to prepare cocktails and other beverages
  10. Deliver beverage orders to guests throughout assigned section in a timely manner.
  11. Participate in liquor glassware removal, ensuring compliance with all Ohio Gaming Commission regulations.
  12. Accurately account for and collect payment for all drink orders through POS system in a timely manner.
  13. Clean and stock glassware, utensils, and bar equipment. Arrange and clean liquor bottles, beer, fruit trays, and glassware to assure that the bar environment is perceived as clean, organized, and attractive  
  14. Clean bars, work areas, and tables. Produce and complete par lists to requisition liquor and supplies.
  15. Maintain lounge and bar area by collecting used glassware, silverware, dishes, ashtrays and debris.
  16. Limit problems related to guests' excessive drinking by providing responsible alcohol service and applying any training from the responsible alcohol certification course.
  17. Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  18. Receive and deliver order to appropriate venue/bar.
  19. Observe and adhere to Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, and cleanliness of work environment.
  20. Abide by all State, State Gaming, Federal and Corporate liquor Regulations. Also pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  21. Use and maintain all assigned areas and equipment in a sanitary, safe and effective manner.
  22. Consistent attendance at company/restaurant training programs as they are scheduled.
  23. Carry out duties with attention to detail, sanitation and safety.
  24. Complete opening, closing and other side duties as assigned by the supervisors.
  25. Pass all tests given including the training in order to retain the knowledge needed to be an effective server.
  26. Maintain a well-groomed, neat and clean appearance.
  27. Possess the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and possess the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  28. Perform all job functions in conjunction with the guidelines described in the Standard Operating Procedures manual to ensure consistent execution of company and department standards.
  29. Perform all duties as assigned by management. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid gaming license
  • Must be at least 21-years of age
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external guests effectively
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain responsible alcohol service certification
  • Familiarity and product knowledge of beverages, wines, and garnishes
