Job description

Snow’s Family Market in Mercer is looking for dependable, friendly team members to help provide a positive experience for our customers. We are hiring Cashiers for both full-time and part-time positions.

This position involves more than working at the checkout. Cashiers help customers, keep the front end organized, and assist with general store duties throughout the day. The specific mix of responsibilities will vary based on customer traffic and the needs of the store.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate the checkout accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide friendly service and assist customers with questions.
  • Handle cash, credit/debit, and other forms of payment.
  • Bag groceries and assist customers with carry-outs when needed.
  • Keep registers, checkout areas, and surrounding areas clean and organized.
  • Stock, straighten, and face merchandise.
  • Help with price checks, carts, cleaning, and other general store tasks.
  • Assist other departments when needed.
  • Follow company procedures for cash handling, safety, customer service, and age-restricted sales.
  • Work with managers and coworkers to keep the store operating smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

  • A dependable and positive attitude.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to help with different tasks throughout the store.
  • Ability to remain on your feet and perform the normal physical duties of a grocery store position.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Schedule & Pay

We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities. Full-time schedules are generally 36–40 hours per week, while part-time hours will vary based on availability and store needs.

Pay: From $16 per hour

Eligible full-time employees may also receive:

  • Up to $1,000 in first-year retention bonuses
  • An additional $2 per hour for Sunday and holiday shifts
  • Paid holiday benefits, subject to eligibility
  • One week of paid vacation after one year
