Job description

Summary

The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst is a vital member of Simplot’s Tax Department, contributing to the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Simplot’s indirect tax compliance and reporting processes. This position will play a crucial role implementing a sales/use and VAT tax engine tied to Simplot’s ERP platforms and supporting other tax systems implementations.  Additionally, this role requires monitoring changes in tax legislation, researching tax issues, and coordinating with the ERP implementation team and other tax subject matter experts.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, an ability to work independently with limited supervision, and a commitment to enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of current processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst in Simplot's Tax Department, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide support and guidance to the internal ERP implementation team regarding indirect domestic and international tax implications.  Your main focus will be on the implementation of OneSource Indirect, a sales tax software tied to Simplot’s new SAP platform. 
    • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual tasks, leveraging data analytics and technology to enhance efficiency and scalability.
    • Partner with IT, finance, legal, Income Tax and operations teams to ensure consistent and correct application of indirect taxes across the organization. This includes overseeing registrations, system configurations for tax rates, and exemption certificate management.
    • Direct testing, troubleshooting, and error resolution efforts across ERP and tax platforms
    • Monitor and analyze indirect tax law changes and quantify the impact on Simplot’s operations and cash flow.  Provide support to Simplot’s International Tax team regarding VAT/GST issues.
Typical Education
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Tax required; Master’s degree a plus.
Relevant Experience
  • 2-5 Years of public accounting or large corporate tax experience (CPA, a plus).
  • Proficient in state and local indirect tax laws and regulations (specific industry knowledge, a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and tax software applications
  • Experience with SAP/Central Finance (“CFIN”) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with OneSource Indirect Tax is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in problem resolution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships across various functional areas.
