Job description

The Cash Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing cash reconciliation and data flows across Workday, Cadency, banks, and payment processors for all five fascias. This person will be leading daily matching, monthly close, account certification, and reconciliation activities while ensuring SLA compliance. Manage the reconciliation team and collaborate with IT, Treasury, and external partners to resolve issues and improve automation. The manager will drive process improvements, data quality, internal controls, and higher Cadency auto-match rates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end data flow between Workday Accounting Center/General Ledger and Cadency, as well as the daily intake of BAI/IFS bank files and electronic payment processor files into Cadency.
  • Direct all key Cadency operational streams across all 5 retail fascias, including daily cash transaction matching, daily electronic payment matching, monthly account certification, and monthly close workflows.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of three-way transaction matching in Cadency across bank statements, 3rd-party processors (e.g., Worldpay, PayPal, Afterpay, Klarna), and Workday general ledger records.
  • Monitor and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring Cadency transaction-matching errors and exceptions are resolved within the 2-day target schedule.
  • Oversee external relationships with banking partners and payment processors to ensure smooth, automated transmission of daily deposit and settlement files into Cadency.
  • Track and optimize core Cadency metrics, including Three-Way Match Accuracy Rates, Unreconciled Cash / Deposit-in-Transit Aging, and Transaction Reconciliation Backlogs.
  • Directly manage, coach, and evaluate Cash Reconciliation Analysts and Accountants; allocate workload and manage cross-fascia performance.
  • Champion analyst-driven data quality initiatives, acting on identified trends to establish standardized, automated operational workflows across all 5 fascias.
  • Direct daily store cash sweep transfers from local bank accounts into the primary operating account based on Cadency matching balances.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls in accordance with SOX guidelines to protect cash receipts and prevent financial exposure across all cash clearing accounts.
  • Partner with IT, Treasury, and external payment processors to operationalize system enhancements, resolve structural data feed defects, and drive Cadency auto-match rates.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives across all 5 retail fascias to drive team operational efficiency, eliminate data pipeline bottlenecks, increase Cadency auto-match rates, and streamline SLA performance across multi-system workflows.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during periodic interim and year-end audits; lead walkthroughs of cash operations and internal controls, manage PBC request fulfillment, and address technical audit inquiries regarding cash clearing accounts.
  • Lead month-end cash close routines, ensuring timely delivery of Account Certifications and Cash Clearing account validations (1020/1030/1040).

Required Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with MBA preferred. 5-7 years of relevant work experience functions, with experience managing high-volume transaction matching and month-end close processes. Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting or reconciliation teams, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Treasury, IT, and external partners in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Required Computer and Technical Skills: Proficiency in all Microsoft Office equivalent programs along with experience with ERP and reconciliation systems, preferably Workday and Cadency, as well as bank and third-party payment processor integrations.

Physical Demands: Sit for more than 6 hours per shift
