Job Description:
This position reports to the Community Based Services Specialist and is responsible for providing comprehensive support to individuals in both home and community settings, including vocational and employment environments. The role focuses on promoting independence, community integration, and successful participation in competitive and small group employment settings.
The Community-Based Direct Support Professional supports individuals in developing daily living skills, social and communication abilities, and job readiness competencies. This includes assisting with personal care, facilitating community engagement, and providing hands-on job coaching, training, and employment support.
This position collaborates with interdisciplinary team members including family members, behavioral specialists, employers, and outside agencies to ensure individuals achieve their personal, social, and employment goals. Shifts vary based on individual and agency needs.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) along with 1-year prior experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability, including training in home / community based and / or vocational settings is required. Previous work experience in industry or rehabilitation is preferred i.e. any type of business including office work, manufacturing, restaurant work, grocery store work, etc.
  • Work experience may be volunteer work or internships
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and employers

Certifications/Licenses and Registrations:
  • Must successfully complete and maintain all state and federal employment certifications such as the mandated Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) within the first 6 months of employment
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a clean driving record for the past three years and proof of automobile insurance. Child Abuse and Criminal Clearances, FBI check, completed physical with a T.B. Mantoux Test.
