About Our Client
Our client is a privately owned American manufacturer of laboratory and science casework, serving educational and institutional laboratory environments nationwide. They design and produce painted steel, stainless steel, and custom wood casework, along with laboratory work benches, fixtures, work surfaces, and fume hoods - all manufactured domestically. As a privately held company, they are able to focus on quality and long-term relationships with employees, dealers, distributors, customers, and end users rather than short-term financial pressures. Sustainability and responsible, ethical business practices are core to how they operate.Job Description
This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of a construction/casework project from its inception through completion. The Construction Project Manager ensures that client requirements around functionality and specifications are met, while keeping projects on track against major milestones, lead times, and budgets.
The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, working closely with estimating, drafters/detailers, distributor salespeople, production, suppliers, and subcontractors to keep projects moving smoothly. This person will manage project scope, timelines, and resources, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and provide clear, timely communication to both customers and internal stakeholders - including executive-level status reporting and recommendations.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage project scope, timelines, and resources while aligning customers, mitigating risks, and communicating progress updates in a timely manner.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and serve as their primary point of contact, gaining a deep understanding of each client's business objectives, challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Plan, direct, schedule, design, and coordinate production timelines to meet customer needs.
  • Review construction documents and company shop drawings.
  • Review and process RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
  • Review contract terms and conditions, specifications, and scope of work with estimating, drafters, and the distributor salesperson.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and constraints, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage and oversee project detailers (drafters).
  • Ensure the project is completed within a specified time frame.
  • Review internal and external submittals for compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare submittals to the customer and resubmit as necessary.
  • Review supplier acknowledgments to confirm compliance with released materials.
  • Incorporate field dimensions into company submittals before production release.
  • Attend project meetings as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot issues with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor the flow of products from suppliers and subcontractors to meet the schedule.
  • Monitor financial information on projects, including material, labor, subcontractor, and company overhead costs.
  • Ensure quality control of manufacturing and materials, including subcontractors/vendors.
  • Manage customer expectations and monitor overall project progress.
  • Identify and track open issues to facilitate timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with production to make necessary adjustments and ensure successful project completion.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders to keep all parties informed of project status.
  • Facilitate executive-level communication, including status reporting, insights, and recommendations.
  • Utilize project management tools for effective tracking and reporting.
Required Experience/Skills
