Job description

Roughrider North Human Service Zone is Hiring a Child Protection Case Manager in Dickinson, North Dakota
Roughrider North Human Service Zone is seeking a dedicated and passionate CPS Case Manager for the Child Welfare Team to support Child Welfare Services. Our mission is to serve children and families by providing advocacy, resources, and education while promoting stability and community connections.
Child Protection Case Manager example of duties:
  • Assess and investigate reports of child abuse and neglect while ensuring compliance with policies, best practices, and emergency intervention procedures.
  • Accurately document case details and connect families to essential services.
  • Collaborate with service providers, law enforcement, and legal entities.
  • Prepare for and testify in court proceedings.
  • Maintain flexibility with on-call scheduling and non-traditional working hours.
To succeed in this position, you must have a passion for serving others and a commitment to making a positive impact. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. A thorough understanding of program policies and laws is required, as well as proficiency in various software and database applications with a willingness to learn new technology. Attention to detail, strong decision-making abilities, and strict adherence to state and federal regulations are critical.
To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, behavioral health, applied behavior analysis, nursing (bachelor level degree) or criminal justice. Plus, one of the following:
Family Service Specialist III:
  • Two (2) years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective services worker, or professional case manager is required. Qualifying experience includes work in healthcare, behavioral health, child welfare, developmental disabilities, case management in a corrections setting, or social services. This experience must involve direct client interaction, service coordination, and documentation responsibilities.
  • A master's degree may substitute for one (1) year of the work experience requirement
  • A bachelor's degree as listed above
Family Services Specialist II:
  • One (1) year of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective services worker, or professional case manager is required. Qualifying experience includes work in healthcare, behavioral health, child welfare, developmental disabilities, case management in a corrections setting, or social services. This experience must involve direct client interaction, service coordination, and documentation responsibilities.
  • A master's degree in one of the above areas may substitute for the work experience requirement
  • A bachelor's degree as listed above
Family Services Specialist I:
  • No work experience required.
  • A bachelor's degree as listed above
Must maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Frequent travel is required.
Must complete Child Welfare certification.
Individuals may be required to work some non-traditional hours.
Salary will be adjusted if the position is filled as an FSS I or FSS II.
The successful applicant must pass a standard background, motor vehicle, and criminal record check.
