Job description

Hutchens Law Firm has an immediate opening for an experienced, full-time litigation paralegal in our Columbia, SC location. This position will support a well-established attorney with duties, including, but not limited to:  Case management, preparing conflict checks, legal transcription/dictation, assisting with discovery, downloading filings, correspondence, billing, invoice processing, and other duties as assigned in other departments as requested or needed.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Ability to assist and keep up with a fast-paced attorney
  • Excellent computer proficiency, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with ability to learn new programs and/or platforms
  • Must know how to e-file in State and Federal Courts
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal and business documents
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
  • Ability to identify problems, establish facts, and conduct legal research
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Work Environment
 

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files (up to 15 lbs), open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
