Job Title College and Career Navigator - Corrections Job Description
1. Exhibit patience, cultural proficiency and possess the ability to work with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
2. Be able to work strategically to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
3. Accept flexible scheduling and work locations as required.
4. Maintain knowledge of program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures; collect and manage accurate data for program improvement and accountability.
5. Monitor and administer assessments and orientations for students entering the AE program, and uses formal/informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress.
6. Monitor and administer various assessments (TABE, GED Ready, NCRC) as necessary.
7. Provide individual academic and career coaching, case management, and transition and referral services to AE students.
8. Refer to WIOA Partners as appropriate and build collaborative relationships with community-based and other public agencies in order to provide support services and facilitate the students' transition to college or work.
9. Ensure updated documentation of participant files, data and case notes are entered into the state approved Case Management system per program requirements.
10. Monitor progress toward completion of individual established goals, maintain student records and assist with retention and follow-up of students.
11. Assist all students in setting career and academic goals and developing and educational plan identifying assets, barriers, and support services needed to address challenges.
12. Work collaboratively with instructors and support staff to identify appropriate differentiated instruction to provide students personalized instruction and contexts aligned to their career and academic goals.
13. Attend and participate in AE and MGCCC workshops, trainings, meetings, and events as required.
14. Utilize Banner Software and other appropriate software to support office procedures and grant requirements.
15. Work with administration in the continued evaluation and improvement of program activities.
16. Maintain a schedule of appointments and meet with each participant per program requirements.
17. Assist participants with identifying potential employment opportunities, employability skills, and completing employment applications.
18. Support the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities; adhere to College policies and procedures.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Duties
The Adult Education College and Career Navigator will provide guidance and assistance for students in Adult Education program at the George County and Stone County Regional Correctional Facilities to facilitate the achievement of career and academic goals. The College and Career Navigator will report to the Adult Education Program Director.
Mandatory Qualifications
M(1) Minimum of BS Degree in Adult Education, Secondary Education or Related.

3 years' experience teaching/training/advising adults/students.

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
M(4) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Qualifications
D(1) Master's Degree in Adult Education, Secondary Education or Related.
