How does a Case Collaborative professional typically work with multidisciplinary teams to support client outcomes?

In a Case Collaborative role, professionals frequently coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—such as social workers, educators, healthcare providers, and legal representatives—to develop and implement comprehensive support plans for clients. This collaboration involves regular meetings, sharing updates, and jointly problem-solving to address complex client needs. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as each team member brings unique expertise to the table. This structure not only ensures holistic care for clients but also provides valuable professional development opportunities through exposure to different perspectives and best practices.

What is the difference between Case Collaborative vs Case Manager?

AspectCase Collaborative
CredentialsTypically requires a background in social work, counseling, or related fields; certifications vary by region
Work EnvironmentOften involves team-based settings, community outreach, and client meetings
Employer & IndustryCommonly employed by social service agencies, healthcare organizations, and non-profits
Job FocusFacilitating collaboration among multiple stakeholders to support client needs

While both roles involve supporting clients, a Case Collaborative focuses on coordinating efforts among various parties, whereas a Case Manager primarily manages individual client cases and services. The roles often overlap but differ in scope and approach, with the Case Collaborative emphasizing teamwork and partnership.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Case Collaborator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Case Collaborator, you need a background in social work, psychology, or a related field, along with strong case management and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with case management software and documentation systems, as well as relevant certifications like Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), is highly valuable. Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, and cultural competency help in building trust and effective partnerships with clients and multidisciplinary teams. These abilities are essential for ensuring coordinated care, positive outcomes, and efficient case resolution.

What is a Case Collaborative?

A Case Collaborative typically refers to a partnership or organization where multiple school districts or agencies work together to provide specialized services to students with unique educational needs, often focusing on special education. These collaboratives pool resources, expertise, and staff to offer programs and support that individual districts might not be able to provide on their own. The goal is to ensure that all students receive appropriate, high-quality educational opportunities in the least restrictive environment. Case Collaboratives often coordinate services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and specialized classroom instruction.

Job description

The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative has established the Massachusetts Artificial Intelligence Hub (Mass AI Hub) as its newest operating division focused on furthering the Commonwealth's position as a global leader in artificial intelligence innovation. This pioneering initiative will drive collaboration between government, industry, startups, and academia to pursue solutions to critical challenges and unlock economic opportunities for businesses and residents across the state. The AI Hub will strive to make AI technology more accessible to enterprises, enable researchers, entrepreneurs, and startups to pursue development and commercialization of innovative ideas, and prepare the state's workforce for opportunities in AI while enabling all citizens to benefit from AI-driven changes.

The AI Hub is seeking to appoint a temporary Associate Program Director for its emerging Data Commons Collaborative, a stakeholder-driven initiative focused on enhanced access to public and private datasets to catalyze the discovery of new product innovations in artificial intelligence. The Data Commons Collaborative will be developed in partnership with the Artificial Intelligence Compute Resource (AICR) at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC).

This is a 10-15 hour a week position.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Mass AI Hub Director, ensure that the development and deployment of AI in Massachusetts aligns with the public interest and respects the rights of the Commonwealth's citizens.
  • Oversee the technical development and implementation of operating guidelines and standards for a data commons platform to support end-to-end development and lifecycle management of AI models and algorithms in priority sectors.
  • Guide the deliberations of the Data Commons Collaborative working group, providing support for workstreams that establish policies and program requirements for data management (infrastructure), data security and governance, and a use case prioritization framework.
  • Inform Mass AI Hub policies related to priority sector selection, legal and ethical data access considerations, and operating guidelines for data collection, sharing, access, and usage best practices.
  • Develop and implement the vision, plans, and policies for the Data Commons, addressing the needs of data contributors (state agencies and quasi-governmental organizations) and coordinating with MGHPCC resources, Mass Tech Collaborative staff, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Fifteen years of professional experience in research, development, and/or industry.
  • Experience in academia, federal research labs, and industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work at the Boston or Westborough office as required or attend offsite meetings/events not easily accessible by public transportation.
  • This position requires the ability to work at our Westborough or Boston Massachusetts office at least two days per week. This is not a fully remote position.

Benefits

MassTech offers a hybrid work schedule and a competitive total rewards package.
