Join a dynamic and collaborative surgical team at Piedmont Walton, where we perform over 4,000 procedures annually across four fully equipped operating rooms. As a Level III Trauma Center and ANCC Pathway to Excellence designated facility since 2022, we are committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care 24/7/365-including urgent and emergent add-on cases.
Our cross-trained surgical staff supports a broad range of services including orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, robotic-assisted procedures, bariatrics, gynecology, podiatry, and endoscopy. The OR team is composed of RNs, surgical technologists, CSFAs, and procedure support technicians, with staffing aligned to AORN standards to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient care.

Responsibilities
Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case. At time facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited a surgical technologist program. Required and
  • completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation period. Required
Work Experience
  • 3 years perioperative services experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Required and
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required and
  • Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification Required
  • One of the following
  • Certified surgical assistant (CSA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA) Upon Hire Required or
