TITLE: Art Teacher - Casco Bay High
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Casco Bay High School (CBHS) is seeking an outstanding, collaborative educator with the skills and passion for the rigor, relevance and relationships that are at the core of Expeditionary Learning - and a hallmark of our school. We seek educators with an affinity for diverse student bodies and an aptitude for differentiation, educators who are adept in the role of both teacher and advisor. Our faculty have a strong voice in shaping CBHS, and new staff can expect to be richly involved in upholding our distinct mission and in advancing school culture, teaching, and learning.
The art teacher will teach three sections of 9th grade Visual Arts, integrating with other 9th grade courses and expeditions when appropriate. The teacher will also teach one art elective per semester for students in grades 9-12, and lead a 9th grade advisory group ("crew").
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices
  • Understanding of the teaching/learning process
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maine State Teacher Certificate with Endorsement 620 (Art, PK-12) (more info)
