Role Overview
Wood is searching for a Mid-Level to Senior-Level Geospatial Application Developer to be located in our Durham, NC office. This position will be offered on a full-time basis. It also requires the candidate to have excellent leadership skills and the ability to coordinate directly with other Geospatial team members. The candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of clients, including Duke Energy, US Department of Defense (DoD), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), FEMA, various local, state governments, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Task manage various Geospatial initiatives both analytical and development related
- Product manage multiple internal applications
- Lead and assist in the development of new analysis tools and mobile/web applications
- Engage in lead certain client meetings, trainings and project demonstrations
- Assist management as a mentor and guide junior development staff
- Coordinate with project management staff for project tasks
- Create maps, datasets, applications, and reports for delivery to clients
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
- 5 -10+ years of experience with GIS analysis and application development/programming
- Strong understanding of Esri software including, but not limited to:
- ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop
- Field Apps (Collector, Survey123, etc.)
- Strong understanding of cartography and cartographic principles
- Proficiency with Web-based GIS tools such as Leaflet, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS API for JavaScript /Python
- Excellent organization skills
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Access)
- Extensive experience designing and managing public-facing websites
- Strong proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages, such as:
- Python
- JavaScript
- HTML/CSS/PHP
- C#
- Unity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidate must be prepared to show examples of current or past development work in an interview setting.
Preferred Qualifications - Not Required
- Certified GIS Professional (GISP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
- Experience with Open-Source geospatial applications such as QGIS, GRASS, etc.
- Experience with SQL, Postgre SQL or other database management systems
- Experience with cloud-based computing environments (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, etc.)
- Experience working with federal, state & local governments
- Experience working with LiDAR (aerial, mobile or terrestrial)
- Tool creation using ESRI Model Builder or Python
- Experience in database management and design
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 development applications such as SharePoint, PowerApps & PowerBI
