Job description

We create more efficient ways for shippers and carriers to transport goods across North America. Compensation for this role is $80,000-$83,000. The role may also be eligible for bonus or commission pay. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set. As a Manager, Carrier Sales aligned to our Carrier Sales team in Brokerage at RXO, you’ll manage all procurement functions, including developing new carrier sources, conducting bids, and selecting carriers. You will also collaborate with customers and account managers to create carrier sales solutions that meet service and cost expectations. What your day‑to‑day will look like:
  • Act as the liaison between Carrier Sales management and RXO associates, and partner with all functions of the business
  • Lead teams of Carrier Sales employees, including setting performance targets and continuously providing feedback regarding actual performance in comparison to targets
  • Own all Carrier sSales-related activities for specific modes across multiple accounts
  • Help set strategy around mode buying and leveraging; develop key initiatives, best practices, and processes within the team
  • Support the growth of new customers and the expansion of existing customers
  • Collaborate with Customer and Account Management teams to create solutions that meet service and cost levels
  • Determine carrier rates and KPI’s; analyze rates and make decisions on awards while remaining compliant with the overall sourcing strategy
  • Analyze all lanes and rates to ensure equity
  • Recommend cost‑saving strategies that are beneficial to our customers as well as equitable to the carriers
  • Negotiate volume discounts with carriers where applicable
  • Prepare bids and quotes on single and project shipments for domestic/international business; analyze job costs to ensure bids and quotes provide desirable profit margins
What you’ll need to excel:
  • At a minimum, you’ll need: 5 years of experience in the transportation / logistics industry
  • It’d be great if you also have: Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of experience in carrier sales with an emphasis on carrier rate negotiations
  • In-depth knowledge of carrier sales, including, FTL and LTL
  • Experience leading a sales team
