Position Summary: 

The Carrier Operations Representative is responsible for managing and growing carrier relationships while ensuring the successful execution of freight from tender to delivery. This role serves as a key liaison between carriers, internal sales and account management teams, to ensure capacity coverage, on-time performance, and issue resolution. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a high-energy logistics environment, enjoys relationship management, and is detail-oriented with strong communication skills. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source and secure carrier capacity by building relationships with reliable trucking partners 
  • Track and trace active shipments to ensure timely pickup and delivery 
  • Communicate proactively with carriers and internal account teams to ensure on-time performance and problem resolution 
  • Maintain carrier compliance by verifying insurance, safety records, and performance history 
  • Leverage load boards and carrier networks to match freight with available capacity efficiently 
  • Analyze carrier performance data to identify opportunities for improved service and stronger partnerships 

Competencies: 

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities 
  • Proficiency with TMS platforms and Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating cross-functionally 

Education/Experience: 

  • High school Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree preferred. 
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
