Mill Creek Carpet and Tile, a subsidiary of Mill Creek Lumber and Supply, is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Sales Representative to join our team. As a Retail Sales Representative, you will play a vital role in our company's success by providing exceptional customer service and driving sales in our retail showroom. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers in selecting the best carpet and tile products to meet their needs, as well as handling transactions and ensuring customer standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to all showroom visitors, including greeting and assisting customers promptly and professionally.
  • Engage with customers to understand their flooring requirements and guide them in selecting appropriate carpet and tile products.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the various carpet and tile options available, including features, benefits, and pricing.
  • Educate customers about the installation process, maintenance, and care instructions for different types of flooring.
  • Collaborate with customers to create customized flooring solutions that align with their preferences, budget, and design requirements.
  • Present/explain product samples and swatches to showcase the range of available options.
  • Provide accurate and detailed product information, including specifications, warranties, and pricing, to help customers make informed decisions.
  • Effectively handle and process sales transactions, including cash, credit, and financing options, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing showroom environment to enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, product knowledge, and competitors' offerings to provide relevant recommendations to customers.
  • Collaborate with the installation team to schedule appointments and ensure seamless coordination between sales and installation processes.
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner, aiming to achieve customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team sales targets, contributing to the success of the store.
  • Participate in sales training programs to enhance selling techniques and product knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in sales, marketing, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a retail sales role, preferably in the carpet, tile, or flooring industry.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a strong ability to build rapport and establish long-lasting relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated sales acumen and a passion for exceeding targets.
  • Solid knowledge of various types of carpet and tile products, including their characteristics and installation requirements.
  • Familiarity with computers and point-of-sale) software for processing sales transactions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills to multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the business.
