Job Summary
PIONEER THEATRE COMPANY, Utah's professional regional theatre in residence at University of Utah has an opening on our staff for a motivated, skilled scenic carpenter. This person should have a working knowledge of technical theatre and scenic construction including both wood and metal. Must be self-motivated, have excellent attention to detail, perform safe working practices, and execute tasks efficiently and accurately both individually and as part of a team. Experience with stage rigging, finish carpentry, and CNC fabrication is a plus. This is a full-time, seasonal position with no work available during the summer months, and includes a possibility of continued employment in future seasons. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Responsibilities Essential Duties:
• Maintain clean and safe working environment
• Work as a team member while maintaining a positive attitude in times of stress.
• Construct scenery as directed by supervisor as specified by drawings, and in line with common theatrical practices.
• Completing projects on schedule with a high level of quality.
• Load-in and Strike scenery safely.
• Perform modification and maintenance of all scenery as directed by supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Carpenter, I: Requires little to no related experience.
