Job Brief
Carpenter
Position: Carpenter, Temporary
Location: Dugway Proving Ground
**Temporary position information:
Not eligible for paid time off or Health & Welfare benefits
Position is set to run through 09-30-26 but could be extended or transferred to a full-time position
Summary: Perform the carpentry duties necessary to repair building woodwork, and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benched, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood. Work involves most of the following: Planning, and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments; making standard shop communications relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work.
Qualifications: Two years' experience in carpentry, Journeyman Level certification.
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
Purpose of Classification: Provide carpentry services to the English Village Shop in accordance with the Dugway Proving Ground PWS.
Duties & Responsibilities:
โ€ข Works with minimal supervision and guidance
โ€ข Respond to service calls within the allowable timeframe
โ€ข Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program
โ€ข Must adhere to the Lockout / Tagout Program
โ€ข Perform daily checks on company provided vehicle
โ€ข Operate equipment, machinery, and tools related to carpentry work
โ€ข Able to layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions using a variety of measuring instruments, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
โ€ข Ensures quality control of all work performed, the observance of safe work practices, and adherence to occupational health standards
โ€ข Perform related duties as required
Special Knowledge / Skills Required:
โ€ข Must have a valid state driver's license
โ€ข Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions
โ€ข Must be able to listen with comprehension to assist customers with problems
โ€ข Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, ability to be punctual, and patient under sometimes stressful situations
