Job description

Cornerstone Home Solutions LLC

Lead Carpenter

Location: Culpeper, VA

Build With Purpose. Lead With Integrity.

Cornerstone Home Solutions LLC is a residential construction company focused on remodels and new homes, with strong experience in kitchens, baths, trim work, framing, and fine-detail carpentry. The company takes pride in quality craftsmanship, honest communication, and caring well for clients throughout each project. Cornerstone's vision is rooted in building homes and communities with integrity, excellence, and lasting impact.

Cornerstone Home Solutions is hiring a Lead Carpenter for a "working lead" role that is approximately 75-85% hands-on carpentry and 15-25% project management. This person will help lead residential remodeling and new home projects from start to finish, while also setting the tone for craftsmanship, jobsite organization, and team accountability. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, communicates well, solves problems proactively, and has the experience to lead a crew with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee residential carpentry work, including rough framing, structural builds, exterior work, interior framing, finish carpentry, trim installation, crown molding, and cabinetry
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications accurately
  • Lead jobs from start to finish with strong attention to quality, detail, and production
  • Coordinate with the owner, subcontractors, and homeowners as needed
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and help keep projects on schedule
  • Train, mentor, and support crew members in the field
  • Manage materials, deliveries, and on-site organization
  • Track labor, production, and material usage
  • Troubleshoot jobsite issues efficiently and communicate problems early, rather than hiding them
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite at all times

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of residential carpentry experience
  • Strong background in framing and finish/trim carpentry
  • Experience leading crews and running residential jobs with limited supervision
  • Ability to read blueprints and execute work to a high standard
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Must comply with company safety policies, which may include pre-employment drug screening where permitted by law
  • This is a smoke-free work environment during working hours
  • Honest, dependable, and willing to communicate issues openly so they can be resolved quickly

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employment
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Typical 40-hour work week.
  • Pay: $30 to $35 per hour, based on experience.
  • Company-provided tools and equipment; employees are expected to bring their own basic hand tools, typically carried in a nail bag or tool belt
  • Overtime pay
  • Three weeks of paid vacation after the first 90 days, accrued on a prorated basis
  • Discretionary year-end bonus (not guaranteed)

Why Cornerstone Home Solutions

At Cornerstone Home Solutions, the work is about more than finishing projects; it is about building homes with care, integrity, and excellence. This is a place for someone who takes real pride in craftsmanship, values honest communication, and wants to help lead a team the right way. If you are looking for a company that cares about clients, stands behind its work, and believes character matters just as much as skill, Cornerstone offers the chance to build with purpose every day.
