Acelero Learning is seeking a dedicated Facilities Assistant to help maintain high-quality Head Start classrooms and facilities that support children's health, safety, and development. Your work ensures that our centers remain compliant, well-maintained, and aligned with federal, state, and Head Start Performance Standards-ultimately helping children thrive in beautiful, well-cared-for spaces.

Your Role

As a Facilities Assistant, you will support the daily upkeep and safety of multiple Head Start facilities, including classrooms, offices, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces. You will perform custodial, maintenance, and repair tasks to ensure our centers operate efficiently and maintain compliance with licensing and federal Head Start requirements. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help create positive, engaging environments for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, families, and staff.

What You'll DoMaintain Safe, Clean, High-Quality Facilities
  • Clean and sanitize assigned facilities, including classrooms, bathrooms, exposed surfaces, floors, and common areas.

  • Complete ongoing custodial duties to ensure daily readiness of learning and administrative spaces.

Perform Basic Maintenance & Repairs
  • Identify maintenance needs and respond promptly with effective solutions.

  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks.

  • Complete maintenance requests and minor repairs at centers and main office as assigned.

Support Facility Operations & Equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections of interior and exterior spaces to identify safety hazards or needed repairs.

  • Maintain heating and ventilation systems through regular checks and maintenance.

  • Assist with remodeling, refurbishing, and repairing office spaces, classrooms, and storage units.

  • Relocate furniture, fixtures, and equipment during staffing moves, relocations, remodels, or expansions.

  • Ensure agency equipment and machinery are maintained, secured, and stored properly.

Maintain Outdoor Environments
  • Support upkeep of playgrounds, lawns, landscaped areas, parking lots, and outdoor structures.

  • Perform routine inspections to ensure outdoor areas remain free of hazards, debris, and obstructions.

  • Assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining playground structures.

Provide Program Support
  • Transport and distribute food and materials to Early Head Start sites as needed.

  • Collaborate with center staff to maintain compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.

What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience in general repair, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, assembly, or facilities maintenance.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license in good standing, and required vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy or bulky objects up to 75 lbs.

  • Proficient computer skills, including email, word processing, and internet navigation.
