Education Requirements: High School graduate or GED, secondary school courses in carpentry or building trades preferred

Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in rough and finish carpentry

Position Summary:

The Carpenter is a skilled craft professional responsible for performing both rough and finish carpentry work on commercial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and quality standards to ensure work is completed efficiently and supports overall project success. They maintain high-quality workmanship standards, improve job site efficiency, and provide guidance to less experienced team members to ensure safe and productive work practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in both rough and finish carpentry methods and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, project plans, and construction documents
  • Strong ability to work independently while maintaining high efficiency and accuracy
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to mentor and support Apprentices and Carpenter Helpers in safe, productive work practices
  • Effective communication with supervisors, trades, and team members
  • Ability to adhere to and enforce safety procedures and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to travel, valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

Additional Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Understanding of job layout and setup techniques.

  • Perform rough carpentry work including framing, blocking, backing, sheathing, and structural layout
  • Perform finish carpentry including installation of trim, doors, hardware, millwork, and related finishes
  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on construction drawings, specifications, and layout information
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and job site equipment safely, accurately, and effectively
  • Provide guidance and basic instruction to Apprentices and Carpenter Helpers
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards
  • Identify and communicate potential field conflicts, material needs, or design issues to foreman
  • Assist in maintaining job site productivity and schedule adherence
  • Perform other duties as assigned
