Job description

Position Summary

Costello Construction is seeking an experienced and dependable Carpenter to join our construction team in the Dover, Delaware area. The Carpenter will perform skilled carpentry and general construction work on commercial projects while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, productivity, and workmanship.

The ideal candidate is a motivated craftsman who takes pride in their work, can read and understand construction plans, and is comfortable working as part of a professional construction team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform rough and finish carpentry on commercial construction projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and layout information.
  • Perform framing, blocking, backing, trim, doors, hardware, and other carpentry work.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install building materials accurately.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with demolition, layout, installation, and general construction activities as needed.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and jobsite procedures.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and other members of the construction team.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting project schedules.
  • Perform additional construction duties as directed by the project superintendent or foreman.
Qualifications
  • Previous carpentry or commercial construction experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of framing, finish carpentry, and general construction practices.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and perform accurate measurements.
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in varying jobsite conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • OSHA or other construction safety training is a plus.
Physical Requirements
