Job description

Lead Carpenter โ€” Joe's Carpentry Inc.

Woodstock, Ontario | Full-Time

About the Role

Joe's Carpentry Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team on active residential job sites in and around Woodstock, Ontario. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in quality work and enjoys guiding others to do the same.

The Lead Carpenter completes assigned carpentry tasks to our quality standard while providing day-to-day technical direction to General Carpenters and labourers โ€” on technique, safe work practices, and the day's priorities. You'll report to the Site Supervisor and work closely with our Project Manager to keep jobs on budget, on schedule, and on scope.

What You'll Do

  • Complete assigned carpentry tasks efficiently and to Joe's Carpentry's quality standards, checking the crew's work before the next step or trade begins
  • Direct General Carpenters and labourers through the day's tasks, teaching proper technique and safe work practices
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor on schedule, materials, and scope โ€” flagging shortages or field-condition changes before they cause delays
  • Check in daily and weekly with the Site Supervisor or Project Manager on progress and crew assignments
  • Maintain a daily job log with photos and notes using Buildertrend
  • Maintain personal and crew tools and equipment, and ensure job sites are left clean and organized

What You Bring

  • Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent significant hands-on trade experience
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality finish carpentry
  • Comfortable directing and guiding other tradespeople and labourers
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication skills and the judgment to know when to make the call versus when to escalate

Nice to Have

  • Red Seal Carpenter certification
  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or informally leading a small crew
  • Experience with custom home builds or major residential renovations

Why Joe's Carpentry

We're a team built on three things: creating the best experiences for our clients, demanding the best of our team, our suppliers, and ourselves, and never letting our team down. If you're looking for a place where good work is recognized and technical leadership actually means something, we'd love to talk.
