Job Description: Door Shop Master Carpenter

Location: Gibonston, FL

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge in the use of door preparation jigs including ASA strike positions, Morse lock round requirements, and hinge placement
  • Expert knowledge in door specifications including industry standards, door measurements (e.g. Steelcra, Daybar, Ceco, etc.), types of door core materials used in door fabrication, and working knowledge of handling requirements for door fabrication
  • Ability to assemble lead-lined door cores, apply veneer and other external door finishes (plastic laminate, Formica, etc.), prepare cutouts in the door for hardware placement (locks, hinges, occupancy indicators, etc.), and fabricate cutouts in the door core for view window placement
  • Proficiency in the use of door shop tools such as skill saw, routers, planers, table, and nail gun
  • Knowledge of door manufacture techniques including squaring edges, gluing/applying veneers, and assembling door cores
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow work orders/door specifications for customer door requirements
  • Effective measurement skills and ability to use a carpenter’s square
  • Attention to detail and possess a quality-oriented work ethic

This position is a key role in the Door Shop environment and requires an expert knowledge of door preparation jigs, door specifications, and door manufacture techniques. The Door Shop Master Carpenter will assemble lead-lined door cores, apply veneer and other external door finishes, prepare cutouts in the door for hardware placement, fabricate cutouts in the door core for view window placement, and use door shop tools such as skill saw, routers, planers, table, and nail gun. The ideal candidate will possess effective measurement skills, use a carpenter’s square, and have an attention to detail with a quality-oriented work ethic.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assemble lead-lined door cores
  • Apply veneer and other external door finishes (plastic laminate, Formica, etc.)
  • Prepare cutouts in the door for hardware placement (locks, hinges, occupancy indicators, etc.)
  • Fabricate cutouts in the door core for view window placement
