Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Checker/Loader in our Shipping Department on 2nd Shift at our Riverside, California foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading/loading trucks, perform final quality check on finished product, and load on trailer per customer requirements.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The Checker Loader communicates with department coworkers, manager, company and commercial drivers. This position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature change. Major challenges include proper loading of material on trucks to maximize usage of space.

Additional Responsibilities of the Checker/Loader:

  • Must be forklift certified
  • Load trucks in proper sequence.
  • Check loading tickets.
  • Use forklift to load trailers as needed
  • Lockout trailers before loading and unlock once loading is complete.
  • Record and track information in inventory control system.
  • Verify trucks have been loaded properly.
  • Move stock in loading area as necessary.
  • Inspect trailers for damage.
  • Run manifest and bills of lading.
  • Handle finish bedding goods up to 75 lbs.
  • Lock out and chock wheels.
  • Use computers to scan rolls.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Skills/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • One year manufacturing experience
  • Prior Forklift experience preferred
  • Must be able to use computerized equipment in day to day operations and have computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to become forklift certified
  • Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

Pay depends on qualifications and experience. The Checker Loader hourly rate starts at $24.03 per hour.
