Physical Demands:

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled

by hotel environmental systems.

Responsibilities:

The Engineering Technician position will be the” Jack or Jill of all trades” responsible for all aspects of building maintenance, and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer. As a member of the Engineering team, your main focus will be to provide the guest with an experience they’ll never forget. You will be responsible for caring for the guest and treating them to one of the most positive experiences they have ever had. As a representative and part of the Westin Verasa family, you will be energetic, positive, and caring. You will take charge of any opportunity to make the guest’s stay better than they had anticipated, ensuring their return. You will work well in a team environment, ensure all duties are done quickly and accurately, and foster goodwill between the staff and our other resort counterparts. A friendly, efficient and outgoing personality is critical for this position. This person will work closely with the Housekeeping department to ensure all maintenance requests; concerns and duties are completed according to standards. They will also be responsible for continually monitoring the property for deficiencies and working in a proactive manner to identify and address all maintenance and warranty issues in order to reduce the impact and inconvenience to guests/owners. The maintenance person will be responsible for creating, updating, and completing tasks on a regular maintenance work schedule. Your main objective will be: to provide hands-on work with a responsive and proactive maintenance service.

• Update Supervisors/Manager on daily maintenance activities.

• Implementing and maintaining a maintenance tracking system for all employees to record and report issues.

• Ensure work safety standards are consistently followed and all areas of the property are kept clean and safe immediate response to Owner/Guest requests and prioritizing incoming work orders.

• Clearing snow, ice, and sand from walkways and entrances

• Attend periodic team meetings

• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

• Ensure all scheduled maintenance and inspections are carried out.

• Advise immediate supervisor of conditions which might affect the operation of the Engineering Department or the Westin.

• Become thoroughly familiar with resort’s emergency procedures and perform assigned duties per resort and departmental procedures.

• Become familiar with current hotel conservation measures, ensuring their compliance and make recommendations to supervisors on energy conservation improvements.

• Work under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and the other engineers when applicable.

• Make necessary repairs to maintain the resort’s operations.

• Respond to guest complaints promptly and efficiently to avoid inconvenience or discomfort.

• Maintain and repair items in guestrooms, public areas and service areas.

• Maintain tools and maintenance equipment properly.

• Ensure that all switch gear, panels, circuits and equipment are properly labeled and identified.

• Become thoroughly familiar with all phases of operation and maintenance necessary to operate and repair all H.V.A.C. and refrigeration equipment and their associated systems.

• Install and re-key new hardware as directed.

• Maintain neat and accurate records of all lock and keying changes.

• Become familiar with the resort’s architectural characteristics and general mechanical designs.

• Install new wiring and equipment per code when necessary.

• Assists other departmental personnel as assigned.

• Ensure that all established rules, regulations, policies and procedures are strictly adhered to, including OSHA and safety materials guidelines.

• Assist in the set-up of exhibits and conventions as required.

• Assume responsibility for training lesser trained personnel in the buildings’ electrical equipment and systems.

• Maintain all electrical tools and maintenance equipment.

• Perform all other duties which may be assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager or any other authorized supervisor.

• Ensure that the resort or guest security is never jeopardized in carrying out job responsibilities.

• Ensure pool chemical balancing, trouble shooting, repair and reporting.
