The company was founded by John Carlson P.E., a 40-year veteran of Food and Dairy plant engineering and process automation. Starting in a garage with one client, Carlson Engineering has grown to occupy a 50,000 sq. ft. office and manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas and serves many of the industry’s largest producers. With over 300 years combined engineering experience in the Dairy industry, our team of talented engineers has successfully solved many of the industry’s toughest challenges. Our corporate office and manufacturing facility is where we support our growing staff of engineers, along with housing both our process systems and our control panel fabrication shops. In addition, Carlson Engineering employs dedicated software developers to support its growing network of Intelliplant Plant Control System application users. While based in Fort Worth, our reach is nationwide. On any given day, you will find Carlson engineers deployed at sites across the country. We support our clients, wherever that location may be. POSITION DESCRIPTIONAs a Staff Accountant with Carlson Engineering, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for the business, tracking profitability of the company as a whole, and profitability at the project level, and reporting data to the General Manager and Owner as required. You will be responsible for managing and paying invoices from venders, invoicing customers as needed based on terms and project milestones, and managing the financial statements. You will work closely with the GM to evaluate expenses and revenue on a monthly basis, track project payment status, and profitability of each project. You will also communicate directly with staff engineers on status of projects, invoicing or pricing issues, and on project payment terms. You will help facilitate the usage of the company purchase order system. In addition to being a technically astute individual, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and who exhibits strong interpersonal communication skills, a dedication to excellence, strong work ethic, and personal integrity. RESPONSIBILITIESManage P&L within Carlson accounting systemTrack profitability of projects and provide monthly updates to GM and Director of Engineering.Manage timely payments of all vendors and suppliers.Manage invoicing and payment timing of customers.Work independently with little supervision, but with high personal and team accountability.QUALIFICATIONS BS in Business Administration, accounting, or other relevant study, and 5 plus years experience as a staff accountant. Prior experience working with or within construction, manufacturing, or engineering firms a plus. Speak, read and write fluent English. Be a United States citizen or have documented proof of eligibility to work in the United States and have a current driver’s license.
