We support our clients, wherever that location may be.POSITION DESCRIPTIONAs an Associate Automation Engineer with Carlson Engineering, you will learn industrial automation system design, development and implementation.You will work alongside our experienced automation engineers who will serve as leaders and mentors as you apply your knowledge and skills to your assignments.You will become involved in the day-to-day operational and technical aspects of projects, and typical project assignments will include onsite work at the client?s location.You will be responsible for maintaining high customer satisfaction by handling and solving assigned technical issues and ensuring outstanding communication and follow-up with our clients. You will be empowered to make decisions that impact our client's day-to-day operations.In addition to a technically astute individual, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and who exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills, a dedication to excellence, strong work ethic, and personal integrity.RESPONSIBILITIESLearn to configure, program, modify, and maintain a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and reporting applications.Read and analyze moderately complex technical procedures, process flow schematics, P&IDs, electrical, instrumentation, and pneumatic drawings, and government regulations.Develop an understanding of the customer?s processes, control methods, and the requirements for successful project completion.Assist with writing functional specifications, sequence of operations, system installation instructions, and department-related standards and procedures.Communicate thoughts, ideas, and other written information, which may be technical in nature, in a logical, coherent, and persuasive manner.Be a critical team player during the start-up and commissioning of new process equipment within a plant floor environment.Candidate must excel in high pressure environments with strict performance deadlines.Work independently with little supervision, but with high personal and team accountability.QUALIFICATIONSBS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical degree.Prior experience with the following is not required, but considered a plus:Control system design, programming, commissioning, or troubleshootingElectrical design in an industrial settingFood or beverage manufacturing, or any manufacturing plant operationsAutoCADWilling to travel on average 50% of the time, with brief periods exceeding 70%.Speak, read and write fluent English.Be a United States citizen or have documented proof of eligibility to work in the United States and have a current driver?s license.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSCompetitive salaryGenerous retirement plan; up to 10% of your base salaryGenerous PPO medical plan for employees and familiesPaid vacationTravel expense reimbursementTO APPLYSend Resume and Cover Letter.
