Job description

Summary of Position: The person in this position is responsible for the configuration, maintenance and support of computer workstations, their peripherals, their software, telephones, projectors, and other audio-visual equipment. The technology technician also provides technology support for some school events and performances, some of which occur in the evening or outside of normal scheduled hours. 

Qualifications: 

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field is preferred. However, past work experience or equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience may qualify. 
  • Two or more years of experience in technology support in Microsoft Windows environments involving the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of networked PCs, their software, and peripheral equipment is preferred.  
  • Experience providing technical support related to general or special education, customer service, inventory management, or communications is preferred. 
  • Familiarity working in an educational environment is preferred. 
  • The following attributes are required: attention to detail, inventory management, efficient communication, interpersonal skills, and precise written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Possess fundamental mathematical skills such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Utilize critical thinking and deductive reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  
  • Familiarity with Google Apps administration (Google Admin). 
  • Experience performing Chromebook, desktop, projector, smartboard, and monitor hardware repair.
  • Inventory Control.
  • Knowledge of Cariina (or other help desk inventory/ticketing systems) preferred.
  • Experience with administering internal phone systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as a part of a team.

  • 52-week position, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-3:30 pm; after-hours work may be required if meetings/events dictate

Essential Position Requirements: 

  • Primary responsible for incoming helpdesk support requests for hardware (Chromebooks, laptops and desktop computers, printers, projectors, cameras, and other peripherals) and software/systems like Google email and Drive, Microsoft Office, and other classroom applications. Helpdesk workload is balanced with the Technology Director.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional organization of both physical and virtual environments.
  • Responsible for  upholding compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and working with staff for all cybersecurity practices. Includes cybersecurity platforms such as Artic Wolf, KnowBe4, and Crowdstrike.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues as they arise, keeping technical staff and other coworkers informed about progress, documenting what work was done and what the final resolution was in our shared ticket system.
  • In coordination with the Technology Director, manage users and groups in Active Directory, Group Policy objects, and other network services.
  • Support the Technology Director in maintaining Windows servers, network, system monitoring, and backup.
  • Deploy computers and other hardware, operating system images, applications, and updates as needed.
  • Perform or arrange for repair of equipment or recommend replacements when repairs are not possible or cost-effective.
  • Maintain accurate inventory for hardware and consumables such as Chromebooks, printers, phones, computers, and peripherals.
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing
  • Responsible for safely moving equipment and materials within and between school buildings

Reports to: Technology Director 

Pay Rate: Starting at $36,503/year based on experience
