About the Role:
Irie Ting Jamaican Grill LLC is looking for a passionate and experienced Jamaican Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen in Richmond, VA! This is your chance to bring authentic Jamaican flavors to life while running a tight, high-energy kitchen operation. If you live and breathe jerk seasoning, curry, and island cuisine, we want you on our team!

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and execute authentic Jamaican dishes including jerk chicken, oxtail, curry goat, rice and peas, and other traditional menu items
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
  • Manage kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight
  • Monitor food inventory, place orders, and manage food cost controls to minimize waste
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health code regulations
  • Collaborate with ownership on menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed
Requirements:
  • Proven experience preparing authentic Jamaican cuisine in a professional kitchen setting
  • Prior kitchen management or lead cook experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Caribbean spices, cooking techniques, and traditional recipes
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food handler certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of food cost management, inventory control, and ordering
