Additionally, emotional resilience is important, as CNAs frequently support patients and families during difficult times. Building strong teamwork skills and staying organized can help CNAs succeed and grow in these settings.

Why do so many care CNAs quit?

Care CNAs often quit due to low wages, physically and emotionally demanding work, and limited opportunities for advancement. High stress, burnout, and inadequate staffing can also contribute to job dissatisfaction and turnover in this role.

What is a Care CNA?

Care CNAs, or Certified Nursing Assistants, are healthcare professionals who provide basic patient care under the supervision of registered nurses or licensed practical nurses. Their duties include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility. Care CNAs also monitor patients' vital signs, help maintain a clean and safe environment, and offer emotional support to patients and their families. They work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Becoming a CNA typically requires completing a state-approved training program and passing a certification exam.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Care CNA?

To thrive as a Care CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), you need foundational knowledge in basic patient care, vital signs monitoring, and personal hygiene, typically backed by a state-approved CNA certification. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), charting software, and standard medical equipment is common in this role. Compassion, strong communication, and attention to detail help CNAs deliver quality care and build trust with patients. These skills ensure patient safety, comfort, and effective support for nursing teams in healthcare settings.
