Job description

St. Josephs Health is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as Chief of Cardiology. This role is accountable for all professional and administrative activities within the Cardiology Service Line and serves as Department Chair, establishing section chiefs as needed in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws.

The Chief will set a clear vision for the Cardiology Service Line, emphasizing strategic and business planning, clinical excellence, and operational performance. This position collaborates with key stakeholders to advance care delivery, improve patient experience, and strengthen financial and market position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary cardiology care (invasive and non-invasive) across the service line.
  • Develop and execute a 35-year strategic and operating plan; monitor performance against objectives.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Ensure quality, productivity, and patient experience standards are met.
  • Oversee clinical services, cost management, quality assurance, and medical protocols.
  • Advance clinical capabilities, promote research, and enhance national recognition of St. Josephs Health as a major cardiac center.
  • Manage capital and operating budgets; drive financial sustainability.
  • Foster physician engagement and lead system-level cardiology initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with DNV, CMS, NYS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Travel to various Trinity Health sites up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with Board Certification in Cardiology (Interventional or Non-Invasive).
  • Eligible for New York State licensure.
  • Proven leadership experience in a cardiology program or service line.
  • Strong strategic, operational, and financial acumen.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and collaborative leadership.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Non-Invasive Chief: Compensation is $600-$650K base + productivity incentives
  • Interventional Chief: Compensation is $750-$800K + productivity bonuses
  • The posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses, incentives related to quality and performance, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. In addition, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits offered by their medical group employer. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.
