Job description

Inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ, the mission of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services is to be a recognized provider in giving person centered care through an integrated continuum of quality residential, healthcare, and supportive social services for senior adults throughout the Archdiocese of Saint Louis. 

Job Summary

Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking an on-site Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and ongoing maintenance, including custodial care, to ensure properties and buildings are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Overview and Responsibilities
  • Daily inspect building(s) and grounds, inside and outside, to determine needs for repairs and clean up.
  • Performs a wide variety of building and equipment repair, maintenance work and apartment turnovers
  • Perform painting, drywall repairs, electrical repairs, HVAC repairs, PTAC replacement, plumbing, carpentry, equipment testing and maintenance, etc.
  • Perform service, filter change and cleaning of HVAC and PTAC units
  • Responsible for performance and knowledge of custodial duties in case of their absence
  • Keep time and material records of all Work Orders, as well as supply inventory.
  • Assist Maintenance Department in overseeing and or escorting outside contractors, including regular inspections of any building system, such as fire panel, elevator and boiler inspections
  • Maintain all building and maintenance equipment, including snow removal and lawn cutting.
  • Maintain all buildings, lawns, walkways and drives clear of any debris or obstruction.
  • Maintain landscaping, flowerbeds, bushes, grass, etc... keeping them trimmed and clear of weed.
  • Respond to requests from Management including issues with safety and security.
  • Respond immediately to all emergencies.
  • Responsible for representing Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in a caring professional manner.
  • Maintain CRSS cell phone, charged and available for emergency response at all times.
  • Work with maintenance supervisor on biannual and special projects
  • Must keep a clean shop and an organized inventory of all parts and equipment.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements
  • Experience custodial and service fields, including some experience in skilled trades, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting or carpentry fields.
  • Knowledge of acceptable trade practices and building standards.
  • The ability to understand and follow directions.
  • The ability to prioritize.
Skills and Competencies Required
  • Conduct daily inspection of work areas
  • Responsible for maintaining tools and equipment for safe use
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to utilize work order system
  • Must be able to follow specific instructions
  • Must be able to maintain a safe and clean work area free of spills, debris and hazards
  • Safely operate ladders, lifts and tools
  • Must be able to prioritize work
  • Must meet and exceed workorder deadlines
  • Demonstrate knowledge of heating systems- HVAC
  • Perform building inspections and report issues, timely
  • Ability to use work order system
  • Must be able to work as a team or independently
  • Willing to work as a member of a team and take direction from supervisors

  • Responsible for tools and equipment owned by the site, keeping them maintained and in good working order.
  • Responsible for keeping the common areas in and around the buildings in a clean well-maintained appearance 
  • Must be able to lift 80lbs
