Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a Business Development Lead to join our Carbon & Energy Markets Service Line. The Carbon & Energy Markets team at Anthesis partners with organizations to accelerate their decarbonization strategies by providing market-leading expertise in voluntary carbon markets, renewable energy certificates (RECs/EACs), and other sustainability solutions.
This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing strategic client relationships, and leading commercial transactions involving environmental commodities. Working with a diverse portfolio of clients, from multinational corporations to emerging organizations, you will leverage your market expertise, commercial acumen, and consultative approach to help clients achieve their climate and sustainability goals while contributing to the continued growth of Anthesis' Carbon & Energy Markets business.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow Anthesis Carbon & Energy Markets portfolio across North America.
  • Identify, engage, and secure new clients interested in carbon credits, RECs, EACs, PPAs, and other environmental commodities and sustainability solutions.
  • Manage and expand relationships with existing clients, identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Anthesis service lines.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities through prospecting, networking, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead sales processes from opportunity identification through proposal development, negotiation, contracting, and deal closure.
  • Collaborate with internal technical, advisory, and project teams to design tailored solutions that meet clients' sustainability, decarbonization, and renewable energy goals.
  • Develop relationships with carbon project developers, brokers, traders, utilities, and renewable energy market participants.
  • Support market intelligence activities, monitoring trends, pricing, regulations, and emerging opportunities within carbon and energy attribute markets.
  • Meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and business development targets while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, account management, environmental commodities, renewable energy, sustainability consulting, or related commercial roles.
  • Proven track record of originating and closing complex sales opportunities with corporate clients and consistently achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong knowledge of voluntary carbon markets, carbon credits, project types, market mechanisms, and corporate climate strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience selling carbon credits, RECs, EACs, and other environmental commodities to corporate buyers.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy procurement solutions and energy markets, including RECs, EACs, PPAs, VPPAs, and related market instruments.
  • Strong existing portfolio of corporate clients and industry contacts within carbon markets, renewable energy, environmental commodities, and sustainability sectors, with a proven track record of generating new revenue opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and securing new client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage professional networks to originate opportunities, build a qualified pipeline, and close new business.
  • Proven experience using HubSpot (or similar CRM platforms) to manage sales pipelines, track opportunities, forecast revenue, monitor client activity, and support business development efforts.
  • Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to translate sustainability and decarbonization objectives into commercial solutions for clients.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, identify opportunities, and drive business growth.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and pipeline management skills.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Spanish is considered a plus.
