A Capstone job typically refers to a culminating work experience, project, or role designed to apply and showcase skills learned during a course of study or training program. It may involve problem-solving, research, or the completion of a significant project relevant to a specific field. These roles are often found in internships, apprenticeships, or final-year academic projects aimed at preparing individuals for professional careers.

What are capstone projects?

Capstone projects are culminating academic assignments that require students to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout their course of study to solve real-world problems or complete practical tasks. These projects often involve research, analysis, and presentation, and are typically completed during the final year of a degree program. Capstone projects can be individual or group-based and are designed to demonstrate a student's mastery of their field and readiness for professional work.

What types of projects do capstone team members typically work on, and how are these projects structured?

Capstone team members often collaborate on interdisciplinary projects that address real-world business or technical challenges. These projects are usually structured with defined milestones, regular team meetings, and guidance from mentors or industry partners. Participants are expected to contribute research, analysis, and creative solutions, working closely with teammates from diverse backgrounds. This collaborative environment helps build both technical and soft skills, preparing team members for future roles in their chosen fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a capstone project manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Capstone Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, subject matter expertise relevant to the project's field, and often a relevant degree or certification. Job description

Haul Truck Operator

Your journey with Capstone Copper starts here. At Capstone, our people are the heart of our organization. We are focused on growth and are committed to unlocking the full potential of ourselves, our teams and our resources. We invest in our people to develop a skilled and engaged workforce, not only for today, but for the future. If you are looking for a purposeful, performance-driven and dynamic work environment, join us!

Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

Our proximity to the Greater Phoenix metro area provides prospective employees with the option to live in communities such as Mesa, Apache Junction, Gilbert, Chandler, San Tan Valley, or Florence. Our location offers a unique work-life balance, blending the rewarding opportunities of the mining industry with easy access to the vibrant energy of Downtown Phoenix, making it an ideal choice for both individuals and their families.

Capstone employees are eligible for an extensive total rewards package, designed to support your physical, mental, financial, and emotional well-being. This package includes, but is not limited to:

  • Eligibility for quarterly bonus of up to 8% of regular earnings
  • Industry-leading 401(k) Savings Plan and Employee Share Purchase Plan, both with company matching
  • Affordable Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits (effective on start date), including Telehealth options and additional supplemental insurances

  • Paid time-off, including vacation, holidays and sick leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Internal progression opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Discounted insurance plans for pets, automobiles and homes
  • We offer a 7-on, 7-off schedule that consists of one week of alternating 12-hour day and nights shifts followed by one week off, offering a great work-life balance with ample time for rest and personal activities.

As a Haul Truck Operator, you will operate haul trucks, water trucks and articulated trucks safely.

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone's Values in Action.

    • Pipe and pump handling.
    • Basic cleaning and safe use of chemicals.
    • Peer operator training.
  • May also be required to learn to operate Rubber-Tired Dozer, Transport Lowboy or other non-production equipment.
  • Actively participate in line-out and safety meetings, contributing to safety discussions and operational efficiency.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred

  • Previous experience operating other types of heavy equipment

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.

Capstone Copper is an equal opportunity employer.
