Job description


THE DEPARTMENT:
The Information Technology Department is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a secure technology infrastructure to support the Product, People, Promotion, Place and Profit areas of Helzberg Diamonds and Ben Bridge. It accomplishes this through the design, development and deployment of automated systems to meet the information and process needs of each major line of business: human resources, merchandise, marketing, finance, services, stores, and E-Commerce. In addition to these lines of business applications, the IT organization is responsible for the collection and correlation of all company electronic information assets into an enterprise Data Warehouse which is used to support the overall analytical and reporting information needs of the business.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Director of Project Management is responsible for leading a team of business analysts and project managers to successfully deliver technology initiatives that align with organizational goals. This role serves as a strategic partner to business stakeholders and the remainder of the IT team, ensuring projects are effectively scoped, sequenced, and executed from initiation through completion. Success in this role requires strong leadership, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business analysts and project managers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment.
• Serve as the primary liaison between IT and business partners to understand needs, define requirements, and align project outcomes with strategic objectives.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, risk management, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope and budget.
• Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, and governance processes (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid as appropriate).
• Ensure clear communication of project status, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and stakeholders.
• Promote best practices in business analysis, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and solution validation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency within project delivery and business engagement.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers as needed.
• Oversee resource planning, budgeting, and performance metrics for the project management function.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position currently has 3 direct reports which will grow to 5-7 over time. This position will be responsible for the following:
• Accomplish department objectives by directing and monitoring the work progress of direct report.
• Provide coaching and guidance to direct report.
• Set expectations, annual goals and provide required quarterly touch base meetings with all direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field; master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in project management, business analysis, or IT delivery.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing project managers, analysts, or similar teams.
• Experience supporting retail, multi-site, or distributed business operations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Experience with portfolio management, resource planning, and project governance.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar certification preferred.
