Job description

Job Summary:

The Technical Publications Project Manager will use established procedures and work under limited supervision to perform assigned tasks by working cross-functionally with Engineering, Repair and Overhaul, Suppliers and Customers. Responsible for supplier RFQs, Purchase Requisitions/Purchase Order initiation; cost and schedule requirements. Will have expert knowledge of industry standards, practices and procedures related to product support documentation such as Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, provisioning data, and related publications. Open in hiring in Burbank, CA or Lynnwood, WA offices.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface as required with other disciplines including engineering, manufacturing, repair and overhaul, purchasing, and suppliers as required to exchange information, resolve problems, and achieve results
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that maintenance documentation meets industry standards and customers' requirements and standards
  • Collaborate with other engineering departments and coordinate their specialized contributions to the development of the documentation
  • Provide support for internal technical writers and suppliers to improve production processes
  • Prepare schedules and cost estimates on writing efforts required
  • Ensure external activities required to support the customer acceptance of publications, e.g. reviews and verification, are scheduled and completed to support on-time delivery
  • Function as Technical Publications interface for internal and external customer; assist customer as required to resolve content discrepancies
  • Translate customer specifications; communicate requirements to offshore and domestic vendors
  • Review industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • Take action to resolve problems and minimize delays
  • Mentor staff
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience managing Technical Publications projects or aerospace documentation requiring industry knowledge and familiarity with publishing software/tools.
  • Knowledge: Expert knowledge of practices and procedures associated with the industry standards governing the content and format of aerospace technical publications. Understand and interpret writing requirements and contract deliverables. Familiarity with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Skills/Abilities: Excellent documentation, organization, and time management skills. Ability to write procedures, reports, and maintenance documentation. Demonstrated ability to lead projects through complete cycle. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment.
  • Education/Certification: Associate's Degree from a two-year college with 5 years aerospace experience or 10 years progressive experience in an aerospace publications environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related discipline
  • CAPM or PMP certification

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment
  • Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
