DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Capitol Police Officers provide a variety of police services and are to be knowledgeable with the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, and Rules of Criminal Procedure. In this key role, you must be able to exercise powers of arrest and be able to use physical force to apprehend and subdue the arrestee(s); conduct mobile, foot, and bicycle patrols; conduct investigations; engage in crowd control; and you must also be able to deal with verbal abuse, taunts, insults, and threats. Additionally, you will provide building security and scan point duties, complete reports, solve problems, and maintain all departmental and municipal police officers' Education and Training Commission certifications. Running, climbing, crawling, and being able to withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and extreme weather conditions, as well as perform other related duties, are all part of the job.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Capital Police Officer Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Successful completion of an equivalent law enforcement officer training or certification program that allows eligibility for commissioning as a police officer.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
- You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
