Capital Projects Manager
Role Overview
As a Capital Projects Manager, you will lead and manage technical projects within an automotive manufacturing plant. You will be responsible for defining scope, developing Statements of Work (SOWs), managing vendor interactions, and ensuring successful deployment of new tooling, equipment, and process improvements that align with plant standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project objectives, capacity targets, and validation requirements.
  • Develop detailed Statements of Work (SOWs) including requirements, specifications, deliverables, timelines, and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and refine SOWs with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and alignment.
  • Manage the quotation process with external suppliers/integrators, acting as the technical liaison.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for feasibility, compliance, and alignment with plant standards.
  • Finalize concepts, oversee testing, validation, and deployment of solutions.
  • Lead negotiations with vendors to optimize scope, cost, and technical solutions.
  • Support vendor selection to ensure solutions meet technical, operational, financial, and timeline requirements.
  • Prepare and present weekly project status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to the company's operating model and highest quality standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 10+ years in manufacturing engineering, with proven capital project management experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • SOW creation & technical documentation
    • Bid evaluation & vendor management
    • 3D design software (Teamcenter, Creo, ProE)
    • AutoCAD, Process Planning Tools, MES
    • Lean Manufacturing principles
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Background:
    • Automotive, off-highway, or Ag/Construction equipment manufacturing experience
    • Shop floor engineering, tooling/equipment installation, process improvement projects
    • Industrial engineering principles including line design activities
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
    • Ability to influence without authority and drive cross-functional collaboration
