Job description

Purpose of Position
Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Intern assists with the review and implementation of the CCHC Emergency Management Program.
Description
  1. Assist with the review of the Emergency Management Program for all of Cape Cod Healthcare, ensuring that the healthcare system is adequately prepared and successfully carries out emergency preparedness drills and preparations as required by state and The Joint Commission.
  2. Reviews and assists with updating required Policies and Procedures in relation to Security, Fire Safety, and Emergency Management, including Management plans, annual reviews, and Emergency Operations Plans required by the Joint Commission, the Department of Public Health, as well as related documents required by Insurance and other regulatory agencies.
  3. Ensures that emergency preparedness equipment and supplies are available and in good working order and recommends purchase of supplies/equipment as necessary.
  4. Assists with the creation and coordination of disaster drills, staff training on emergency preparedness, and supporting documentation.
  5. Provide assistance with other Emergency Management related duties and responsibilities as needed.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Healthcare's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Work or volunteer experience in Emergency Response preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel as well as other MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to follow all instructions, policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and to work collaboratively in a team environment.
