Project Overview:

Bechtel as part of the Northrop Grumman Corp. team is preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure.  GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent.  As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:

The Area Manager - Foward Planning is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the accommodations scope, including planning, prioritizing, organizing, optimizing, and execution to support project operations. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant development and execution of accommodations requirements while maintaining high standards of coordination, supervision, and professionalism. The Area Manager coordinates with project teams, contractors, stakeholders, and service providers to develop and execute accommodations plans, drive continuous improvement, and uphold company values. Depending on grade level, the Area Manager may lead complex accommodations planning and execution efforts, implement innovative solutions, and mentor subordinate supervisors and staff to ensure operational excellence and successful project delivery.  #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Direct all aspects of Area operations related to the development and execution of the accommodations scope, including planning, prioritizing, organizing, optimizing, and coordinating activities to support project requirements and successful delivery.
  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of accommodations requirements, coordinating with project management, site leadership, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project schedules, priorities, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate the design, development, construction, commissioning, and readiness of accommodations facilities and related site services with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategies for accommodations setup, mobilization, and transition activities, ensuring facilities and services are aligned with workforce requirements and project execution plans.
  • Maintain accurate accommodations forecasts, identify potential capacity shortfalls well in advance, and develop and implement approved mitigation strategies, including the evaluation and securing of external facilities when necessary. Balance supply and demand to prevent impacts to project schedules and workforce readiness.
  • Plan, prioritize, and optimize accommodations resources, facilities, services, and supporting infrastructure to maximize efficiency, capacity, and cost effectiveness while meeting project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated accommodations issues, coordinating with project management, Site Manager, Logistics Planning Manager, contractors, subcontractors, stakeholders, and external service providers to resolve operational challenges effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable safety, health, environmental, security, and contractual requirements across Area accommodations activities. Conduct structured inspections and documented safety walkdowns and ensure non-compliance issues are promptly addressed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in logistics, transport, and general services for accommodation population

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to resolve complex issues and implement effective solutions
