On-site in Quantico, VA

Our client seeks a storage and systems engineer to assist the Government Lead with daily engineering duties. The role will implement and administer networked storage infrastructure, conduct capacity planning, and perform performance analysis and design of storage systems. The engineer will build analytical models, project workloads, plan storage requirements, and support hardware and software upgrades while evaluating impacts on utilization and performance. The position will design, configure, and integrate SAN, NAS, and HA/DR solutions, support virtualization platforms, execute storage security and integration tasks, and deliver capacity reports and audits.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with an active Secret clearance. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $75.00 to $85.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Government Lead with daily engineering activities for systems and storage.
  • Implement and administer networked storage infrastructure and interconnected systems.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and storage system design.
  • Assess current system and application resource utilization and performance.
  • Construct analytical models and develop workload projection methodologies.
  • Utilize capacity management toolsets for workload sizing of applications.
  • Plan and evaluate storage requirements and support hardware and software upgrades.
  • Analyze the impact of new technologies on processor and peripheral utilization and performance.
  • Develop capacity plans and reports, manage storage of capacity and performance data, and conduct audits.
  • Support disaster recovery sizing and HA/DR solution design and operations.
  • Design, configure, and integrate SAN and NAS solutions including NetApp and EMC.
  • Complete tasks involving Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and integration with switching fabric.
  • Execute data de-duplication, mirroring, and retention strategies.
  • Install and integrate storage devices, systems, and components.
  • Develop, configure, and integrate Virtual Storage Console for VMware.
  • Perform tasks involving application networking ports and protocols, IA, routing, and LAN.
  • Design and manage storage security.
  • Configure and integrate NetApp Data ONTAP 8.x.
  • Support Microsoft DFS, Exchange, SQL storage design and integration using LUNs, quotas, and file sharing.
  • Integrate storage with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
  • Integrate storage with SQL 2008 R2 and HBSS across various server hardware.
Experience Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp and EMC storage design, configuration, and integration.
  • Experience with SnapMirror, SnapDrive, and SnapManager for Exchange/SQL.
  • Proficiency with NetApp tools such as Data Fabric Manager, OnCommand Operations/System Manager, and PowerShell.
  • Experience constructing capacity plans, reports, and conducting capacity management audits.
  • Background in HA/DR solution design and operations.
  • Experience with Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NAS architectures.
  • Knowledge of IA, routing, LAN, and application ports and protocols.
  • Experience writing API code and working with Oracle or other databases.
Education Requirements:
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
