Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.
The position is based onsite at the OCSC facility in Marysville, Ohio and requires periodic travel to SEWS warehouse locations. This is a not a true Logistics Planner. Please see job description below for more information.
The Warehouse Logistics Planner II, Warehouse Management Department (WMD), supports warehouse planning and project coordination activities related to facility expansion, relocations, capacity planning, and improvement initiatives across SEWS warehouse locations. This role assists with data analysis, project tracking, meeting coordination, budget-support documentation, layout review, and preparation of management reporting materials. The position works under WMD leadership and coordinates with internal departments, external service providers, consultants, and contractors as needed to support project execution in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct cost studies and space analyses to support a five-year warehouse forecast and capacity planning.
  • Develop, maintain, and process benchmarking information; use existing tools or create new analysis tools as needed.
  • Coordinate with external parties as directed to gather information, track deliverables, and support project execution
  • Support coordination of cross-functional project teams and maintain project action trackers.
  • Facilitate or support project meetings; document actions, owners, due dates, and follow-up items.
  • Participate in or help coordinate weekly/monthly project meetings with developers and contractors; Prepare project status materials for management review and support leadership reporting.
  • Support budget recommendations and funding approval requests for assigned projects; Prepare approval-support materials and assist management with approval committee presentations.
  • Create, review, and maintain process control documentation, lease-related documents, and RFQ packages in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present monthly logistics meeting materials.
  • Coordinate internal review of leases, contracts, SOWs, and related documents with Legal, Purchasing, and management.
  • Apply continuous improvement (Kaizen/best practices) to optimize project planning and execution activities.
  • Review layouts, site plans, and construction-related documents from an operational/warehouse-use perspective and escalate technical concerns. Coordinate updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform onsite assessments of proposed locations based on market surveys and business requests.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, warehouse planning, project coordination, facilities planning, or related business support activities. Experience supporting warehouse expansion, relocation, construction, or facility-improvement projects is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to support project planning activities, including scope, schedule, budget tracking, and management reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret warehouse layouts, basic site plans, and facility drawings from an operational planning perspective; construction or architectural drawing review experience preferred. (e.g., architectural drawings, site plans, warehouse layouts).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, and project planning/tracking tools such as Microsoft Project and/or Smartsheet.
  • Strong leadership, organization, time management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present project updates to leadership.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements applicable to warehouse and/or construction environments.
  • Ability to travel periodically to SEWS warehouse locations (Canada/US/Mexico).
