Position Summary
Rolls-Royce is looking for a Capability Lead - High Integrity Software to join our growing team. You will be responsible for capability growth strategy, building global alignment, performance management of your direct reports who are working on various engine control development programs. In this role you will work with other capability leads and the Chiefs responsible for systems and software on development and implementing of the Controls strategic plans. A portion of your time will involve specialist-level review and planning of technical development on the development programs.
What you will be doing
  • Estimate software engineering effort for projects in collaboration with development team, program management and customers, including development of new estimation methods.
  • Manage performance and support career planning & development for Controls software engineers, including performing one-on-ones, PDRs, IDPs, skills matrix, etc.
  • Mentor engineers to improve technical capability and project performance. Enable technical excellence of engineering deliverables for projects.
  • Review and approve team technical deliverables as required, such as engineering documentation and drawings to ensure engineering deliverables for projects while ensuring compliance to applicable product certification requirements (i.e. RTCA/DO-178, ARP4754).
  • Own and drive updates to development processes, ensuring compliance to external standards while being efficient to implement.
  • Perform project-specific tasks at a specialist level, to develop and certify control systems.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years Software (traditional and model-based) or Systems experience, OR
  • Master's degree in STEM with 3+ years Software (traditional and model-based) or Systems experience, OR
  • PhD in STEM
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Requirements:
  • 10+ years developing and integrating a system with embedded software for gas turbine engines, or equivalent safety-critical systems
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Experience with Aerospace and corresponding regulations / standards (ARP 4754, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, etc)
  • Experience in navigating, demonstrating compliance with, and writing process sets to achieve compliance to industry standards.
  • Project management and data reporting experience and understanding budgetary control and cost management across multiple business sectors
  • Prior experience creating and delivering presentations, reports, and/or communications to senior and/or executive stakeholders
  • Prior experience working on multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines and considering customer's needs while adjusting expectations to ensure successful delivery
  • Familiarity with Aerospace/Military verification and Certification requirements, especially preparing for and being part of SOI audits
