DESCRIPTION
  • CAP is currently looking for a Commercial Roofing Inspector with experience in the construction field.
  • This position involves reviewing roofing applications for compliance with the code; performs roofing inspections and enforces roofing protocols.
  • All candidates must be able to read, interpret, and apply a wide variety of technical information from manuals, drawings, specifications, layouts, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Candidates must possess excellent oral communications skills and ability to organize information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews roofing applications for compliance with the code; performs roofing inspections and enforces roofing protocols.
  • Documentation of daily construction activities.
  • Interface with owner building officials and designers as appropriate.
  • Meets and confers with applicants requiring plan review services for municipality building permits.
  • Rejects incomplete or unsatisfactory submittals.
  • Meets with municipalities, state, and federal government officials concerning matters relating to building plan review and municipality building permits.
  • Conduct inspections of construction foundations, alterations, repairs, remodeling, or demolition of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction and inspection of plumbing, heating, and electrical installations and the installation of building systems, when permitting is required, to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and any applicable local technical amendment to the Florida Building Code.
  • Enforcement of project requirements and assuring that non-compliance situations are detected and rectified.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in the construction field
  • Knowledgeable of the Florida Building Code
  • Building plan review and/or inspection experience is desirable.
  • Strong structural and building background is a plus

License, Certification, & Experience
  • State of Florida Commercial Roofing Inspector License
  • State of Florida Building Inspector and/or Plan Reviewer license is desirable
  • Five years construction experience.
  • State of Florida Standard Inspector License (BN), a plus.
  • State of Florida Plans Examiner License (PX), a plus.
  • State of Florida Registered Architect (RA), a plus.
  • State of Florida Registered Professional Engineer (PE), a plus.
  • State of Florida General Contractor License (GC), a plus
