SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Description
Select's Senior Accountant applies moderately complex principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, and regulatory compliance of a mid-size chemical manufacturing and distribution business. This role involves mentoring junior accounting staff, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting in financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Prepare moderately complex journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyze accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Ensure the propriety of accounting for financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and established policies and ensure internal controls are in place.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers for the annual audit.
  • Work with other accounting, billing and payables staff on various issues, tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform data mining and custom ad-hoc reporting tasks using understanding of accounting and reporting systems.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting as needed
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
