Office Assistant (Volunteer)

The Greater Romulus Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dependable and motivated Office Assistant to support daily administrative operations, communications, and community engagement efforts. This opportunity is ideal for a college student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in business administration, marketing, nonprofit operations, and professional communications.

Position Type: Volunteer

Schedule: Approximately 1 - 2 days per week (flexible) (2-3 hours day)

Location: In-person support in Romulus

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general office and administrative tasks
  • Answer and respond to emails and phone inquiries
  • Help organize chamber documents and digital files
  • Support event planning and member communications
  • Assist with data entry, scheduling, and meeting preparation
  • Create and schedule social media content
  • Design simple graphics, flyers, and promotional materials using Canva
  • Help promote chamber events and local businesses online
  • Provide support during chamber events when needed

Qualifications

  • Current college student or recent graduate preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Basic Canva design experience preferred
