Position Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations within a laboratory environment, including managing a fleet of couriers, coordinating specimen/sample transportation, and maintaining accurate inventory levels. This role ensures timely, compliant, and efficient movement of materials while supporting overall lab operations.
Responsibilities:
Courier & Fleet Management
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of courier staff, including scheduling, routing, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens, supplies, and documents
  • Monitor fleet usage, maintenance schedules, and vehicle compliance (licenses, inspections, etc.)
  • Optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs

Inventory Management
  • Oversee inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using tracking systems
  • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts
  • Coordinate ordering and replenishment to prevent shortages or overstock

Logistics Coordination
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, and transport of lab materials in compliance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Collaborate with lab staff to prioritize urgent or time-sensitive deliveries
  • Troubleshoot delays, delivery issues, or operational disruptions

Compliance & Safety
  • Enforce adherence to OSHA, DOT, and laboratory safety regulations
  • Train staff on proper handling of biological or hazardous materials
  • Maintain documentation for audits and inspections

Team Leadership
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate courier and logistics personnel
  • Develop schedules and manage staffing levels
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Reporting & Process Improvement
  • Track and report key performance metrics (delivery times, error rates, inventory accuracy)
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Support implementation of logistics or inventory management systems

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Biology, or related field (preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of logistics, transportation, or inventory management experience
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or regulated environment strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience required
